Synopsis
 

Screenwriter Wei Fei's first film is about to be released. He is immersed in the fantasy of imminent fame, while his father rushes to Beijing from their hometown, carrying a mysterious antique.

Xu Lei

Xu Lei, with his previous absurd comedy Summer Detective (winner of Best Cinematic Script at 2018 FIRST International Film Festival) is one of the most anticipated young talents of the Chinese cinematic world. In 2022, he directed a short film The Great Director, starring two most famous directors in China: Ning Hao (who represents the peak of Chinese commercial films) and Jia Zhangke (who is the most sympoblic arthouse director in China). A Serious Son is his second feature film.
