Director's Note
Echoes of Rust is for me not just a film; it's a conversation with my homeland, the Northeast. In that once industrious place, bristling with chimneys and the clamor of productivity, I grew up and learned to see the world. Later, I left the Northeast, heading south, crossing oceans, with every step moving further from my roots. But no matter where I went, the imprint of that land traveled with me. This film is my introspection on the current state of the Northeast—the aging population, the fading prosperity, and the remnants left by the receding wave of socialism. With an experimental approach, I sought to capture the stories hidden in the crumbling corners, where the chill of economic downturn and the fractures of society intertwine. I hope this film resonates with you, even if just slightly. Let's watch together how life and values subtly shift in the currents of time and contemplate the true meaning of existence. It is also a record of this corner of the world through my eyes as an observer. These are my thoughts, my feelings, my story.
