Set in a chilly winter in a depressed Chinese fishing town, Liang Ming’s directorial debut unfolds a tangled relationship between two siblings and a charming outsider. Wisdom Tooth challenges the coming-of- age genre by mobilizing the form of a crime thriller. At the edge of adulthood, a once dependent and innocent girl has to confront the mysterious, contaminated and dangerous side of life, where the torture of secrets and jealousy is also a catalyst for her awakening.

Wisdom Tooth has already received positive reviews from Screen Daily and Variety. Jessica Kiang from the later comments that the film “must be one of the year’s most remarkable debuts”. Giovanna Fulvi, programmer of Toronto International Film Festival, endorses the film as “reminiscent of Burning by Lee Chang-dong and of The Dreamers by Bernardo Bertolucci, for its treatment of an ever shifting ménage à trois.”
